First Horse - Introduction


Introduction - First Horse

In the next four modules you will learn all about owning and caring for a horse (wild and domestic). You will learn how to care for them, how to maintain a healthy horse, what lifestyles are available for your horse, and the necessary equipment for horse ownership.

You can follow through the modules by using the next and back buttons at the bottom of each page, or you can jump in between modules with the text navigation bar at the top of each page.

Once you have completed the modules, you can review what you've learned in the module summaries, and then test your knowledge in the self assessment.

Summary of Modules

Module 1 - Horse Care (Diet, Water, Shelter)

Objective: At the end of this module, you should be able to describe what a horse eats, water requirements, and minimum shelter requirements.

Module 2 - Horse Lifestyle

Objective: At the end of this module, you should be able to describe the different lifestyles available for your horse, and which one is best suited for your horse and what you want to do with your horse.

Module 3 - Horse Health

Objective: At the end of this module, you should be able to: define veterinarian and farrier; and describe the minimum health maintenance requirements for your horse.

Module 4 - Horse Tack/Equipment (halter, saddle, blankets, brushes, etc.)

Objective: At the end of this module, you should be able to describe the minimum tack/equipment necessary for horse ownership.

Objective: At the end of this module, you should be able to describe at a high level the content of each module.
